Tyrone Marhguy, a former student of Achimota School and now studying at the University of Pennsylvania, USA đŸ‡ș🇾, has achieved a major technological milestone after building a working 8-bit processor from scratch.

The young Ghanaian designed the simple computer brain using 3,488 transistors, demonstrating deep understanding of computer architecture and digital logic at a level rarely attempted by students.

Marhguy’s achievement is especially symbolic. In 2021, he nearly lost his chance to attend Achimota School after being denied admission over his Rastafarian faith and dreadlocks, a decision that sparked nationwide debate on religious freedom and students’ rights in Ghana.

Today, his success stands as a powerful reminder that talent, resilience, and innovation thrive when opportunity is not denied. Tyrone’s journey continues to inspire young Africans to pursue science, technology, and engineering—regardless of background or belief.
