Foreign Affairs Minister and Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has unveiled a community support initiative dubbed “Free Fuel Friday” to cushion the rising operational costs faced by commercial transport operators in the North Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region.

Scheduled for Friday, 6 February 2026, the fuel distribution exercise will run from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at selected filling stations across the constituency.

Under the programme, trotro and taxi drivers, KIA truck operators, okada riders, boat operators and other commercial drivers will receive free fuel at designated locations including Star Oil in Battor, Alinco in Aveyime and Juapong, and Life Energy in Juapong, among others.

Organisers said the gesture aims to ease the financial burden on frontline transport workers grappling with high fuel costs and operational expenses, while enabling residents to “share in the benefits of economic recovery and significant price reductions.”

The initiative, spearheaded by Mr. Ablakwa alongside his associates, has been promoted on social media with the hashtags #TogbeWorgbedziCares and #NorthTonguRising.
